“Shine On The Radio”

Posted by Angela On April - 7 - 2009

So it has been a long several months. I have been in and out of California Sound Studios more times than I can count. Working with Wright family is a lot of fun. Frank Wright is a joy to play music with. The band is starting to really come together as musicians. I am very lucky to be working with talent like Rico Brown, Frank Wright, Al Robertson aka Big Daddy, and Kyle Burlington aka Rabbit. My right hand man Jesse Wright is doing a fantastic job in the mixing of the songs. Every now and then he gets a little carried away, but then I just real him back in and get him re-focused and we are usualy good to go from there. I have been meeting a lot of great people through California Sound Studios lately. Like Meeghan a 14 year old sensation. She is a pop singer that writes her own lyrics and helps with the writing of her music too. She is very sweet and funny, but besides that she is extremely smart and very very talented. She is going to be awesome. Her manager Jackie is a doll. I absolutely adore Jackie. She makes me want to visit France even more than I did before. Yes, she is French. She runs a very successful acting and modeling agency out of Hollywood California and she is a musician as well. With a great voice from what I have been told. Then there is the talented and very funny Ronnie King. Wikipedia Ronnie to see the huge list of iconic talent that he has either played music with, wrote with, or produced. Then there is Tony from the band Blacklist Union and Amber, his girlfriend, from Rock of Love. Tony has a set of pipes and can sing and Blacklist Union kicks butt. I just went and saw them perform on Tuesday at The Viper Room in Hollywood and they were great. Check out there music. Amber is also extremely nice.

So I finaly got everything nailed down with Southern California Children’s Choir and picked out the class I want to use on my song ‘Shine on the Radio’. ‘Shine on the Radio’ is a very big production song and is pretty much holding up the entire album, but will be tottaly worth it once it is done in the end. They will be singing on the outro for me.

I would like to tell you and promise you this album will be done soon, but I think that would be a lie. Nothing is worth doing if it’s not worth doing right or Wright! Ha Ha.

So I am just learning how to use my Twitter and having a good time.  How fun is it to talk to the internet through my phone in a text message.  Not like I have anything important to say or even talk about, but that doesn’t matter now does it.  I can vent about something silly and stupid or about serious matters too.  Plus it is interesting seeing what all these other people are doing at the time and what is driving them nuts or just the little things that people do to relax them selves after a long day or in the middle of the chaos.

So I am sitting on the couch in the control room of the studio at California Sound Studios next to Rabbit while he is re-recording his bass track on ‘Everything’.  Jesse has a huge grin right now because this song is almost done being mixed and finished.  It is his favorite song on the album this month.  I still can not pick a single solitary song that I think is my favorite song on the album.  Sure is going to make picking the next single very hard to do.  The band is partial to ‘About You’ and I am paticularly fond of ‘Cold Sheets’ and ‘Annabelle’, but I think the two songs that are going to end up the strongest and realy make the ear orgasm is ‘We All Need Somebody to Love’ and ‘Shine on the Radio’.  We are including some older songs that have stuck with me for the last several years like ‘Watching You’ and ‘Sunshine’, but we are re-recording them different from their original recordings.  Lots of mixing and editing to do still, plus a little more recording too.  We are all super stoked to wrap this up and start playing more shows.  See you there.

Premiere of Jonas Brothers 3D Concert

Posted by Angela On February - 27 - 2009

So on Tuesday the street team and I did a southern California Hooters tour to promote the new single Valentine. We visited 4 Hooters handing out the CD Single and a few K.C. and the Wright Combination t-shirts as well. Shirts will be available at the K.C. and the Wright Combination store online soon. It was a lot of driving between Orange County and Los Angeles, but was totally worth every minute of bad traffic. As we were driving down Hollywood Blvd on our way to the next stop at the Hollywood Hooters to our surprise we came across a huge crowd of people. Well with pure luck on our side we stumbled across the red carpet Hollywood premiere of the Jonas Brothers 3D Concert Movie. So needless to say I was very happy to park as fast as possible and split the two sides of the street with my street team and proceeded to hand out the Valentine single CD to packs of screaming teenage girls who already love their music and prove it by lineing the streets by the hundreds and hundreds. You can’t ask for a better demographic than that and we had no idea that that was even going on, but we were happy to take advantage of the situation along with another band there doing the same. We got rid of 240 CD’s in about 20 minutes with crowds of people digging into the box and pulling out a hand full of CD’s to pass to their friends all the way up front right next to the street. So by the time we were done the street was lined with groups of girls singing, chanting, or screaming to the Jonas Brothers and other celebrities while waving Valentine by K.C. in their hands. That was a cool site.

Sunlit World

Posted by Angela On February - 16 - 2009

kc22I am having the time of my life recording the upcoming album Sunlit World at California Sound Studios. It is a gorgeous studio with all the bells and whistles. We just might be having to much fun in there. I keep loosing track of time and how much of it is spent on recording and working when we are not just goofing around or listening to Frank, Big Daddy, and Rico swap stories of the road. Boy do they have a lot of stories too. Plus I think between the three of them may have either worked or just happen to know everyone in the business and a lot of the same people. I have been fortunate to play with some very talented individuals through out my life, but these guys take the cake. This is the smoothest ensemble I have ever put together and we are here to stay. I love Frank Wright, Rico Brown, Big Daddy Al Robertson, and Rabbit Kyle Burlington. They make up the Wright Combination and trust me they are the right combo. You will love them too.
